V. Teaching Procedure

Step 1 Warming up

At the beginning of the class, teacher will greet to the students. After that, teacher will invite all the classmates to watch a video about A Bite of China. After that, ask students how their feelings are about the delicious foods. Then lead to today’s lesson “It smells delicious”.

Step 2 Pre-listening

Before listening, teacher will lead students to learn some words by showing the actions。They are “sour” and “smell”。 After that play a game called high and low voice to practice the new words。

Step 3 While-listening

In this step, students need to listen to the tape for three times.

For the second time, students will have a intensive listening. Invite students to answer some questions which include detailed information.

1. What does the boy think of pizza? (looks lovely, smells delicious, tastes good)

2。 Does the boy like cheese? And why? (He doesn’t like it, because it smells too strong and tastes a bit sour。)

After answering these questions, the teacher and students will conclude the sentence pattern together.

For the last time, read the passage follow the tape, and pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.

Step 4 Post-listening

Role play:set a situation about restaurant, work in English group to make a conversation by the sentence pattern“It + sense verb + adj.”.Five minutes later, the teacher will invite some groups to share their performance.

Step 5 Summary and Homework

1. Let the students summarize what they have learned today.

2。 Cook a meal by yourself, then write a diary about your evaluation of the taste of it。
